The first case was added Feb 2005 and is a complicated case of an infant with cough and wheeze. The case was created for the Canadian Guidelines on Childhood Asthma Consensus Conference, June 2003. The case is interactive allowing
the user to ask questions and then make a decision as to whether the infant needs further investigation before being diagnosed with viral-induced asthma.
There are 5 single page case studies and more will be added. These cases were prepared for a workshop on Pediatric Asthma at the Ontario Thoracic Society, Better Breathing Day, February 01, 2002. They were drawn from case material that I had seen in the office the previous week and illustrate certain points on asthma management. More cases will be added in future. To make the cases interactive, I have used some simple JavaScript and so JavaScript must be enabled in your browser. Case 1 is a new diagnosis. Case 2 is a child with a persisting cough. Case 3 is an example of recurring chest symptoms in a pre-school child. Case 4 is a more difficult school-aged asthma and Case 5 is an example of chronic rhinitis.
